West Bengal Higher Secondary exams begin March 3, candidate count drops by 2.8 lakh

The West Bengal Higher Secondary Examination will begin on March 3 and continue until March 18. This year, the number of candidates has seen a sharp decline, dropping from approximately 7.9 lakh in 2023 to around 5.09 lakh. The exams will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM across designated centers statewide.

Strict security measures have been implemented at all examination centers, including metal detectors and CCTV surveillance. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has introduced a new system for handling question papers. Instead of opening the packets in the principal’s or site supervisor’s room, the papers will be unsealed inside the examination hall in front of students.

Authorities have instructed all candidates to follow guidelines and arrive at centers on time. Exam centers have been directed to ensure smooth conduct of exams with proper invigilation. The council has also advised students and staff to strictly adhere to the revised security protocols to prevent any malpractice.
